World Bee Day

World Bee Day is celebrated on May 20th every year. This international day is to acknowledge the role of bees and other pollinators for the ecosystem.

Simmatic were challenged to pick and place a variation of different sized glass jars and plastic packaged honey into cardboard trays for shrink wrapping.  Our solution: We used the VMECA’s Vacuum Gripping Systems (V-Grip System): G130x1000-L8-ES1 with EPDM sponge face for the glass jars and a single VD303S-12 vacuum pump for the plastic (not shown on the video) – resulting in a multifunction gripper head.

To celebrate World Bee Day – our video features Simmatic trialling VMECA’s V-Grip system fitted with EPDM sponge face followed by an image of the gripper head in situ at our customer’s site…

Did you know our MD Dale is an avid beekeeper? He has two hives:

  • Bees are part of the biodiversity on which we all depend for our survival
  • Almost 90% of wild plants and 75% of leading global crops depend on animal pollination
  • One out of every three mouthfuls of our food depend on pollinators
  • Crops that depend on pollination are five times more valuable than those that do not.

Let’s celebrate #WorldBeeDay

World Bee Day

World Bee Day

In order to be able to feed the world’s growing population, we need ever more food, which must be diverse, balanced and of good quality to ensure the progress and well-being of humankind. Bees are renowned for their role in providing high-quality food (honey, royal jelly and pollen) and other products used in healthcare and other sectors (beeswax, propolis, honeybee venom). But the work of bees involves so much more! The greatest contribution of bees and other pollinators is the pollination of nearly three quarters of the plants that produce 90% of the world’s food. A third of the world’s food production depends on bees.
